Gavin & Stacy TV Show | Show Information

Gavin and Stacey is an award winning TV show created by James Corden and Ruth Jones who met on the set of ITV’s Fat Friends. The show origionally aired on BBC three but was later shown on BBC 2 thanks to the massive cult following the show created.

Ruth Jones and James Corden took the idea of Gavin and Stacey to the BBC who immediately purchased rights to the program. The show is produced by Baby Cow Productions which was famously founded by Welsh comedian and actor Steve Coogan.

The original series of Gavin and Stacey attracted around 500,000 viewers per episode but viewing figures for series two are already showing a dramatic increase with over 1.5 million fans tuning in to see the latest episodes.

Gavin and Stacy tells the story of a romantic meeting which ends up with a marriage between the two main characters. Gavin (played by Mathew Horne) is a 26 year old call centre worker who lives with his family in Billericay, Essex. Stacey was born and bred in Barry Island, Wales and has lived with her mother since her father, Trevor, died three years ago.

Gavin and Stacy meet in London after a number of calls and bring along best mates Smithy (James Corden) and Vanessa “Nessa” (played by Ruth Jones).
Romance soon blossoms between the two love birds and within months of meeting the pair are planning marriage   once everything has been arranged the lovebirds get married and like any TV the route to happiness is not always as smooth as some people would like. The pair has ups and downs and for a few weeks end up splitting only to realise they cannot live without each other.

The Gavin & Stacy TV show will return in late 2008 for a Christmas special which should introduce us to the rest of the cast and what really happened on the famous fishing trip.
